What we are doing to promote Mustangs

 and

The Wild Horse and Burro Expo:

All of the activities we participate in are done at our own, individual expense.

  •  Attend all prison Adoptions – We are there to answer questions, and have information that goes in the adoption                           packet on how to reach us if the adopters have any questions.

  • Maintain an account for the prison gentling program where people can donate to the program.  We use the funds to purchase jeans, boots and tack for the program.  Just purchased over $2400 in corral panels.

  •  Ongoing Mustang/Burro Newsletter emailed to almost 400 people, and forwarded to many more people (Weekly question/answers about all aspects of owning a Mustang; Training tips, diet tips, we promote clinics, horsy events, and share our Mustang stories)

  •  Attended the Extreme Mustang Makeover in Texas to "witness history"

Several of us, with our Mustangs and/or Burros,

  •  Provide Mustangs and handlers for events that benefit Wild Horses

  •   Kids and Mustangs Program – (Started August 2007 at Huffaker Elementary School with 7 classes.  Have reached out to several summer programs for kids.
  •   Huffaker Kids and Mustangs Event - August 1, 2008 at Bartley Ranch

  •   Fernley Elementary School -  Mustang Awareness, Promoting READING, and Reno Rodeo (5/5/08)

  •   Spanish Springs Elementary School - Mustang Awareness, Promoting READING, and Reno Rodeo (5/5/08) click here for pictures

  • Douglas County Mounted Posse Tack Sale (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008)

  • Cal Expo (Western States Horse Expo) (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008)

  • Reno Rodeo (2005, 2006, 2007)

  • Eldorado County Fair (2007)

  • Albany Expo (2008)

  • Super Adoption - A  "Nevada week of the Animals" Event (2008)

  •  BLM Volunteers – Most of our Board Members are BLM volunteers

  •  Mustang Miracles – Schooling Show – April 2008 in Placerville.  A schooling show to get horses and riders ready for show season.  Will be open to all breeds.  Click HERE for a few pictures

  • Working with BLM and Mustang Heritage Foundation, we found foster homes for 53 yearlings - At the Wild Horse and Burro Expo, 49 yearlings were adopted.  There will be special classes just for these yearlings in 2008, 2009, and 2010 Click here for the yearlings page

The Wild Horse and Burro Expo believes in Giving Back and helping other non profits:

  •  Through local businesses, and the generous donations of individuals,  a little under 600 at risk/seriously ill kids were sponsored to attend the evening entertainment with Tommie Turvey, Equine Extremistt!!!!

  •  For two years now, on Sunday of the Wild Horse Expo, we wear Pink, and one half of the gate proceeds go to a local group that helps women with Cancer, "Moms on the Run"

  • At the 2008 Wild Horse and Burro Expo, we sponsored a booth for Pet Network to attend our event - They adopted out 4 Dogs and 1 adult cat!
